About DBDLI

DBDLI is a publishing company and a valuable resource for learners and educators engaging in the topic of African Nova Scotian history and Canadian black history. The institute’s work in helping to improve the educational outcomes and research in regards to African Canadian history and making sure to push for a more equitable province/country for all. DBDLI also provides textbooks and curriculum to schools across the province to support the educational process across the country.

The Challenge

As time changes and the world of digital starts to continuously grow DBDLI found themselves falling behind as a publishing company and educational support tool. With a vision to reach individuals across the world and educate students on black history and culture DBDLI sought out the opportunity to build a E-learning platform that support teachers and students across the globe who need access to verified and quality information about Canada’s black history. DBDLI seen that there was a disconnect between historic researchers, black educators and a supported system that delivers the currciulum in a way that is scalebale.

Antimatter’s Approach

Antimatter and DBDLI aligned their passion and the vision to grow and develop a platform that allowed teachers to educate their students and students to join and learn more about black history. Antimatter deployed their team as a service creating the UX\UI for the platform, the branding, video animations, graphics and an e-learning platform that was a collaboration tool between a variety of institutes who are interested in collaborating and sharing their curriculum on the DBDLI platform. Inspired from other platforms like Dulingo, Antimatter and DBDLI created an gamification component that encourages learners to stick with the platform and gain rewards for their efforts. The platform is now the first platform in Canada that fully supports and focuses on black history and education.
